Yellow Dawn – The Movie {Update}

Bringing H.P.Lovecraft to the big screen through the Influence of Hastur

Yesterday afternoon had another video call with the Hollywood screenwriter who has taken an interest in the world of Yellow Dawn. We’ve fleshed out the 3rd and final act in the movie. The story is going to focus heavily on the dichotomy between the Wilderness and Living Cities. Big role for the CRC, some focus on The Changed as an abused class of survivor; The Infected and how they are not actually zombies (that’s a misnomer from survivors) but something much worse; the Influence of Hastur; the violent ethos of FABIAN towards robots / cyborgs and the counter-balance of the Dragon Breath AI. The ending is going to be fantastic + potential to launch into another story if this actually proves to be a success. Gosh. Imagine!

It’s been fun talking the screenwriter through my USPs and explaining the deep structure of the YD world (the truth of what’s going on) and how all the components interlock and balance each other. Next step is a 2 page treatment which we’re planning to sign-off end of Feb. I’ll be coming to you folks around summer time with a begging bowl. Not money. But support. Will be launching a social media campaign to show the studios this beast has some legs before we pitch the movie.

I’ll keep you posted.

It’s been a good few weeks for Yellow Dawn. This news is on the back of Chaosium Giving Green Light for Yellow Dawn Publishing Deal. • Ooh very immediately exciting… 0_O – I’ll do my best to help when you say :)
        In a weird bit of synchronicity I just found out my wife’s new boss is a huge Lovecraft fan who is off to Necronomicon (I believe) this year… I’ll have to ask him to read your books :)

  1. That is synchronous indeed! Let me know if he wants a recommendation. I’d say God Seed, EDGE or Dog Eat Dog. Seems like Lovecraft continues to grow and grow and grow in his influence. Bloody fantastic.
