Launch Party for the The Social Club, a novel by science fiction dark fantasy author David J Rodger
Saturday a bright, beautifully sunny but ice-cold November afternoon in England. Step into the comfortable warmth of the Shakespeare Tavern, next door to the Arnolfini Centre for Contemporary Arts in Bristol. It’s a regular haunt for the Bristol Fantasy and Science Fiction Society, and it’s where they have arranged the launch party for my eighth novel: The Social Club.
Wonderful day. Great mix of familiar and unfamiliar faces. Lots of mingling took place. Felt like a proper party. My thanks go to Jo Hall and Claire M Hutt from the SF Society for putting it all together. All I had to do was rock up with a stack of books and talk. Thanks to everyone who came and made the event so positive and friendly. I really enjoyed myself, and if you were there, I hope you did too.
I read the first chapter of the book then did some Q+A, followed by signing. It’s the first time I’ve had a line of people queuing up for me to scribble some words inside the cover. Nice feeling.
