Elena Zhukova strives to show the variety of human form and dream-like archetypes our self-images ultimately stem from
California based photographer Elena Zhukova cuts her cloth to according to the commercial brief but sometimes she steps away from advertising to do something more thought provoking. Zhukova enjoys conveying the range of the human character – things she has seen or read about, from real-life to paintings, movies and books. The mermaid who sheds her tail and the mortal man (or is he) who helps her – what story frets the waters of their lives here? And the golum man, a giant made of flesh rather than inanimate clay, that wrestles with the doors of perception. Nice work.
