Incredible illustration by Axel Torvenius marks milestone for Yellow Dawn 3rd Edition

Post-Apocalyptic Survivor Settlement (High Tech)

You may or may not know about YELLOW DAWN – The Age of Hastur. It’s an RPG I wrote during the noughties and published in 2008. Currently running version 2.5, although I am now working towards a 3rd edition, following Chaosium giving me a  green light to proceed with a publishing deal involving a UK entertainment company; adapting YELLOW DAWN to be used with 7th edition Call of Cthulhu.

YELLOW DAWN – The Age of Hastur, is a post-apocalyptic setting for action adventure and Lovecraftian roleplaying, where player characters explore a New Wilderness, investigate the dark machinations of madmen and monsters, unfold high-tech mysteries in the Living Cities, and try to survive in a world that has been changed forever by the Infection.

The re-write for the 3rd Edition started in earnest mid January with an expected launch date for early 2016.  I’ve been commissioning illustrators for the project, and here’s the first bit of work to appear from Axel Torvenius, representing a survivor settlement with a high technology rating.

YELLOW DAWN 3rd Edition will allow Call of Cthulhu players to drop their scenarios into the post-apocalyptic horror and action adventures of my novels.  More good news: I’ve had a Hollywood screenwriter approach me suggesting the world of Yellow Dawn would make a great concept for a movie – which he is now in the process of planning to write. Exciting days!

You know all there is about what happens after an apocalypse, right? Buy these novels today!

  1. Really nice picture – good moody stuff!
(BTW, I do like the cover to the current YD 2.5 book – any chance of keeping that somewhere – maybe the back cover for the new ed…? It’s also got a great atmospheric vibe…)

  2. Thanks Rob. Yeah I know what you mean about the existing cover. Also holds a special meaning for me (some of the symbolism woven into the image by the artist). It will have to remain somewhere, perhaps as a colour page insert within the book. Or like you say, the back cover. Glad you’re liking the new artwork too. Djr
