Bristol street artist BANKSY recreates the famous Girl with a Pearl Earring
I saw this yesterday on my usual walk around the harbourside – a 3 mile circuit that I do most days, sometimes several times, to reflect on plot ideas for new novels or just to burn off steam. The harbourside is the heart of the City. So I’m rather pleased to see BANKSY make his mark there with a take on “Girl with a Pearl Earring” – circa 1665 by Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. Once again someone has decided to deface it… interestingly demonstrating a total lack of aim with a bucket of black paint. Or was it done by the artist himself? Elusive and enigmatic as ever Mr B.
