So the Bristol Fantasy and SF Society has put their backing behind me, arranged a launch party for my new novel “The Social Club” for the 23rd November (2pm @ The Shakespeare Tavern – next to the Arnolfini), in Bristol, England.  It’s a good feeling. I abruptly no longer feel like such a solitary creature, hunched over my desk up here in the Sky Bunker month after month.  If you’re in Bristol on that date, come along – all are welcome. I’ll be doing a reading from the book, doing Q&A followed by signings.

The Social Club is described as “…an Orwellian detective story within a damaged universe.”

It is my eighth novel, and comes after God Seed, Dante’s Fool, Iron Man Project, EDGE, Dog Eat Dog, Living in Flames and The Black Lake.

It is set within London, after an apocalyptic event known as Yellow Dawn.

If you’ve read other work of mine you’ll be interested to know it expands on the concept of the Power of Eight Group, their tensions with UTOC and the UDP, and how their authority has turned in on itself, becoming corrupted.

All of my novels are stand-alone stories that share a common universe. They can be read in any order.  You do not need to start with any particular one.

I made several advance copies available to folks whose opinion I trust.  Feedback has been fantastic.  I’ll be doing a reading from The Social Club at BristolCon this coming Saturday (26th October @ 4.50 PM in room 2).

I am also giving away my first ever printed copy of the first edition, signed, at the end of November. All you have to do for a chance to win is let me know you’d like your name thrown into the proverbial hat – a lucky draw.  Anybody can enter regardless of where you are in the world.  (Learn more…)
