Spanish born artist, Máximo Riera has created a collection of furniture based around animals. This one, whilst certainly providing a fantastic representation an octopus, would – I feel – also suit any connoisseur of the Cthulhu Mythos. The mass of writhing tentacles creates a sense of sinewy movement within a static form; equivalent to the idea of trans-dimensional forces, the Outer Chaos, warping the lines of solid structures in reality as they emerge through the Quantispheric boundary. Bending perception. Corrupting the fleshy minds of such puny humans unaccustomed to the cosmic horrors that lurk on the intangible threshold of our universe.
