Arizona USA Back in 2010 a school teacher in Arizona was giving a lesson on the Medieval European Crusades into the Middle East.  On the back of this he decided to see what it would be like to recreate the experience of yomping through a sun-blasted desert, carrying armour and kit of the period.   It [...]

Do Something About It I’ve transposed the protest message from Wikipedia here (who today shut down their service in protest) as I believe it is something that should be shared; we need to fight the cack handed, badly written, ill-considered, immoral and unworkable legislation now threatening to go through the US and become law. SOPA [...]

-April 15th 2011. The journey begins – and I’m riddled with aprehension. The recent prang in my car – with its brain jarring impact, has left me feeling depleted and lacking in confidence. Strange. Part of me is terrified about going to New York on my own – the first time since 1999 – but [...]

Sam Rockwell – a vastly underrated actor – is to take on the role of villain in this much anticipated comedy written by the hugely talented duo Alessandro Tanaka and Brian Gatewood.  It also stars Jonah Hill as a college dropout who begrudgingly agrees to watch some snot-faced brats as a favour to his mum. [...]

Here’s a headline from today’s Guardian media-feed: $2 trillion debt crisis threatens to bring down 100 US cities Overdrawn American cities could face financial collapse in 2011, defaulting on hundreds of billions of dollars of borrowings and derailing the US economic recovery. Nor are European cities safe – Florence, Barcelona, Madrid, Venice: all are in [...]

This was part of my California Road Trip. Staying at a place in South Lake Tahoe that was right on the beach. Short walk to the pier and a fab little place called the Blue Water Bistro. Spent the whole night there, on a balcony overlooking the water. Cool tunes seeping through speakers. Then St. [...]

Yosemite National Park – entering via Tioga Pass We headed south along the 395, stopped in Lee Vining for lunch (again) and then turned onto highway 120, Tioga Pass.   Yosemite National Park – Glacier Point – Djr This is overlooking the magnificent Half Dome, which looks like a hooded head… the evil emperor, [...]

This is part of my California Road Trip (September – October 2010). Back in our initial day or so in San Francisco area, with my good friend Adam, cruising around Marin and Point Reyes Station, and Bolinas, I’d had this eerie vibe of familiarity. I then learned that the area had been used as locations [...]

I love this particular road.  Two lanes of beautiful smooth blacktop in either direction.  Mostly quiet and mostly straight.  I nailed about two hundred miles of this in one morning, heading from Lake Isabella towards Mammoth Lakes.

It was the start of two weeks on the road, blasting around California in a big loop from San Francisco, down the Big Sur, across to Sequoia, then up highway 395 to Mammoth Lakes, Bodie Ghost Town, Yosemite, then further north and west, to Lake Tahoe and finally ending up in Napa and Sonoma.  We’d [...]

Antoine Dodson is understandably angry.  Some guy crawled through a window into his sister’s place one night and tried to rape her.  He delivers a threat on live TV with suitable panache.  Which leads to a pretty cool remix. Raw Video . Source: CrazyLaughAction Remix . Source: MacRewind

A couple of vids and a write up that provides an enlightening glimpse of the New Mexico mesa, and some of the people to be found there. “This isn’t tourism, man. This is real life.” It’s got my imagination fired-up. Not sure how accurately “Off The Grid” portrays the people involved, or New Mexico as [...]

¦ dialling in from Sky Bunker ¦ 22:02 GMT, Friday 3rd September 2010. Listening to Clan of Xymox on vinyl from 1985. Deep into chapter 26.  Big reveal session going on.  Mythos and a centuries-old occult horror rising up from the sub-plot to loom as pinacles of madness and horror above the shocked, sanity blasted [...]
