¦ dialling in from Sky Bunker ¦  Brain-mashed, squeezed dry of creative juice.  It’s been a marathon day of keyboard hammering fingerstrokes.  After, what… 3 months?  I’ve finished the second novel of the year.  Whoo-hooo *weak smile*  Will update more tomorrow, but, the bugger is done. Just need to proofread, review and edit, this one [...]

Damn my hands are close to sweating with nervous tension. A combination of the intensity of what’s happening to the characters and the intensity of this phase of the writing process.

Arrgh, getting so close to finishing this beastly baby. This was supposed to be the penultimate chapter but events lead themselves without my say, sometimes, and the story needs another chapter inserted to round off the reader’s POV about what happens to a particular character.  Mwwhwhaaaaa *evil laugh* .  Still, I’m loving it, really INTO [...]

¦ dialling in from the Sky Bunker ¦  Just past 9pm so gonna call it a day / weekend on the book, for now.  Managed to condense a part and drop the need for one chapter.  So I’ve just started chapter 30, which means next chapter is the end.  On target for getting out 2 [...]

¦ dialling in from Sky Bunker ¦  Life support on and blowing warm air across my bare legs. I’m wrapped in Starsky, unshaven, hair sticking out in random clumps. Big progress with novel today.  Using my Da Vinci method (polyphasic sleep) to keep my brain spiking. Umm, and a healthy dose of caffeine from the [...]

Sunday morning and it’s pissing down with rain outside.  Distant green hills surrounding Bristol are lost within the grey haze.  Eerie and atmospheric.  Love it.  I’m slicing into Chapter 28 now (Living in Flames).  There’s only 32 mapped out so I guess that means I’m getting close to the end.  Oooooo. *goes to brew up [...]

Okay, took a little longer than just the morning. Bloody hell. What a chapter. The big reveal. Good though. You can read sample of chapter one here.

Ahh, blisto. Now to nail Chapter 26 (Living in Flames) this moring, I hope. And another chapter by end of play? We shall see.

¦ dialling in from Sky Bunker ¦ 22:02 GMT, Friday 3rd September 2010. Listening to Clan of Xymox on vinyl from 1985. Deep into chapter 26.  Big reveal session going on.  Mythos and a centuries-old occult horror rising up from the sub-plot to loom as pinacles of madness and horror above the shocked, sanity blasted [...]

Just spent my Saturday morning down by the harbour. Drove down in blissful sunshine.  Cool breeze. Quite autumnal. 6 mile walk with a half-way pit stop at Arnolfini, sat outside with pint of soda water & Rocks lime (amazing stuff), listening to H.P.Lovecraft’s “The Shunned House” on audio, then delicious sausage & egg sarnie with [...]

I’ve had such a good day today, creatively. Decided to grab a video snapshot of the Sky Bunker and share with you folks.

¦ dialling in from Sky Bunker ¦ 21:03 GMT, Saturday 21st August 2010.  Just stepped out of a hot bath. Skin’s got that delicious hot and steaming sensation to it in the cooler air of the house. Although it’s not that cold outside.  Warm, muggy, heavy rain. Just got back from a 6 mile walk… [...]

¦ dialling in from Sky Bunker ¦ 21:49 GMT, Friday 20th Aug. Finished chapter 22 of Living in Flames tonight. The new book is currently hogging every nanosecond of my attention, leaving Dog Eat Dog still in a review and edit stage (sorry for those of you who’re waiting, and, thanks for the pestering! *grins*).  [...]

If you’re aware of my work Shadows of the Quantinex, you’ll be aware of the character Cray.  An aspect of Mythos horror wrapped in human form.  Once human form. This is the point where the plot arcs of drug-dealing and criminality are crashed into by the rising background horror story.  Sample chapter 1 of Living [...]

Okay, so maybe I don’t hate this book as much as I thought I did yesterday. I’ve found my groove again.  Cruising along.

I bloody hate this book.  I’m focussing on using a brusque style, very much as brief as a film script for narrative.  Just want to “get to the point” of each scene and get this damned thing finished.  Sample here (PDF).

Living in Flames continues apace. Still beneath streets of London. Subterrenean horrors and criminal gangs. *sups a mug of tea* Lovely.
