English National Ballet perform Strictly Gershwin

I went to see this the other night.  Strictly Gershwin is a non-stop extravaganza of dance and music – with a big band sound coming from the exceptional orchestra and hilariously playful conductor.  When the interval arrived I was staggered how much time had actually elapsed – over an hour and I thought I’d been there only half an hour. If you’re a fan of the razzmatazz of the old school Hollywood musicals era, this literally “glittering” production takes you on a journey in dance from ballet to tap, ballroom to jazz that leaves you grinning and clapping spontaneously.  Numerous curtain calls at the end. Big cheers for the tap-dancers and the cheeky conductor whose antics caused ripples of delighted guffaws from the audience.  If you get a chance to see it then do so.
