CUSTOMER REVIEWS:
By Alexander Siegelin (Germany). I know David’s work on role playing Games (Yellow Dawn) and was interested to see how his skills in writing translate to a Novel. I was not disappointed. Iron Man [Project] has it all, fast pacing, action and Drama. What I especially liked about the book was his depiction of a dystopian near future where there is no Black and White, only shades of Grey. Even the main protagonist is essentially a “Bad guy” but with redeeming qualities. The book clearly shows, that it is playing in a large and well thought out universe which gives the story a credible background and makes you yearn to get to know more about the world of Iron Man Project. So an allover thumbs up for this book!
Really engaging characters and plenty of pace. ‘Unputdownable’ is such an overused phrase, but this is in that category.
DESCRIPTION:
Iron Man Project { novel } In British military intelligence, deniable operators are tools of the trade and their most expendable asset. Getting caught is not an option, but that’s what happened to ex-special forces man, Vincent Brent. Expelled by his community, the legal gears of a court-marshal grinding away in his wake, he’s had to ditch his life and keep low. Tough, resourceful, ruthless and highly trained, he’s now using his skills for whoever will pay him without cashing in the bounty on his head: at this moment that means a shitty life of protecting prostitutes and drug-dealers on the streets of Marseilles.
In this world of the near future, the UN has failed and big corporations have muscled their way into the seat of global power through a network of alliances, called UTOC. Wars are fought in boardrooms through attorneys and politics, and on our streets with private armies of military or criminal assets. In Sicily, the Chief of Security for one such corporate alliance struggles to survive a subtle campaign of corruption, blackmail, physical violence and murder, as hidden forces attempt to manipulate him for their own ends.
Both these men find their fates intertwined. In the cross-hairs of powerful adversaries, they must both make decisions of life and death in a choice between command and conscience.
David J Rodger’s trademark unforgiving rendering of brutal reality, and relentless narrative pace, are here in palm-sweating abundance, delivered in a complex novel where corporations become characters and people are merely pawns in a bigger game.
