Corrupt Moon {short story}
Short Story (4,200 words ) The tower looms above the wealthy settlement of Jesus Mound, drawing the eye and inspiring questions about why such a beautiful building of Faith should be locked up and shunned. One man struggles to grasp the truth as obsession makes him blind to the perils ahead. Within the baleful glare of the corrupt moon, reality can warp and leave an indelible stain of despair upon the unwary mind. Horror and madness fill the cup of the ragged King in Yellow.

Background
This story is something of a personal homage to H. P. Lovecraft whose cannon of work has influenced my writing and affected my life in numerous ways. I’ve chosen to emulate his style, as a one-off, just because I thought it would be interesting to try and because I think it suits the flavour of this particular tale of outré horror. Lovecraft aficionados will hopefully recognise the taste of one of his classics, which I used as the source inspiration, with a contemporary dusting of fresh ideas from Yellow Dawn and some of my trademark plot twists.
Comments & Feedback
I had a music of Erich Zann moment. I love the decadent and decaying setting in this one very much. Official, new favorite!
Reminds me of some of my favorite stories growing up (Books of Paradys set by Tanith Lee), that surreal and slow spin to a maddening and inescapable “reality”.

YELLOW DAWN is a role-playing game described as a post-apocalyptic world for action adventure and investigative horror. Some aspects of the game draw heavily upon H.P.Lovecraft’s “Cthulhu Mythos” cycle of stories.
