Comment on The Ninth Gate: occult and tarot-like symbolism in the engravings by Aristide Torchia and Lucifer, plus wider meanings of the movie by Paul

Never read the book but I must say I really *don't like the flick*. I find the symbolism in it very interesting, there are wonderful pieces of creative work. The film itself on the other hand is such a shame, it goes all the way down from the start to the crappy ending.

I like how the myth designed in the movie pushes the audience's imagination and curiosity way beyond the script, though. It's a very powerful concept, specially when one has any prior knowledge on religion and occultism. Even for a film I consider that bad I am until now intrigued, trying to figure out some meaning from the otherwise meaningless holes left in the movie.

I think some elements in there were made to gather one over another rather than bring some clarification, somehow shedding a minimum light on a dark corner of the puzzle. The movie mystifies itself to a point in which it becomes clogged with useless side information. Important pieces of information in their turn are totally lacking in it!

Anyway, here am I ranting so it's not totally useless as I can have fun *while not actually watching to it* for it's a two hours waste of anyone's life.
