¦ dialling in from Sky Bunker ¦
It’s been a while since I’ve done any writing up here within the confines of the sloping ceilings. A combination of being away quite a lot the past couple months and the builders that have now taken possession of half the house. Up here they’re tackling the massive crack that’s occupied part of the ceiling / wall.
Today’s the first time I’ve had a weekend to myself for a while, it seems. I drove rocket into the city fairly early, parked up and bounced through two cafes whilst working on paper notes for the new novel – The Black Lake. Did the harbour walk as the weather broke above my head; gale force winds and howling rain followed by abrupt calm and sunshine. Now the wind and rain is back.
Tonight is a special night. Some of the Gang are coming around to play Warrior Knights, a classic board game of military strategy and political power circa 1986. What’s great is that there’s be a full contingent of 6 players. I’ve not had that since 1988 in small suburb of Oslo, Norway. So it’s going to be epic. Certainly a great way to lose friends as various alliances form and collapse with eventual betrayal. It’s the way of the game.
Right – 15:15 hrs. Time to crack on with the novel for a few hours before they all arrive.

The morning after. The house looks like a bomb has hit it in the wake of an all night party, rather than the aftermath of a bunch of game geeks. Booze bottles and snack wrappers everywhere. *smiles* An excellent evening of tension and treachery. Several of us muttered at various stages, “I forgot how much I hate this game”. It can be almost unbearable at times (in a masochistic fun way). Anyhow, congrats to Dan D for winning and being thoroughly devious. Damn those plagues!
